The World Bank Group is an international organization which operates for the benefit of its 189 member countries. It is one of the world’s largest sources of financial and technical assistance to developing countries around the world, and aims to reduce poverty, increase shared prosperity, and promote sustainable development. The World Bank operates in sectors such as education, economics, or public health.

In support of its mission—to end extreme poverty and promote shared prosperity—the WBG brings together knowledge and expertise across all major sectors of development. With over 75 years of development experience, its research and knowledge is meant to increase understanding of development issues, enrich policy research and debate, contribute to scholarly research, and support developing countries find solutions to the toughest global and local development challenges
